Effective April 1, 2024 and expires December 1, 2024. Applicable only for MOS positions in the Centers of Excellence and Maryland Family Care practices, of which this role applies to.

 

 

The Motility MOS provides front & back office duties to multiple gastroenterology providers in an outpatient setting. This position will provide the individual with the opportunity to work directly with a NP and Physcian who specialize in Motility & Neurogastroenterology. Not only will the individual gain experience in an outpatient specialty practice, but they will also be the point of contact for the newly renovated Motility Center Clinic space. Open to individuals who have finished their Medical Assistant (MA) program or those in need of clinical hours before starting graduate school (18-24 months required). This position is a traveling MOS who will be primarily supporting providers downtown but traveling to offsite clinics is required. 

Job Responsibilities

Front Office Duties:

  1. Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
  2. Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures 
  3. Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
  4. Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
  5. Complete patient check-in and check-out processes

Back Office Duties:

  1. Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
  2. Administer injections and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on-site training provided)
  3. Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
  4. Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
  5. Complete prior authorizations for patient medications and procedures.

  • Other Requirements:
    • Required to travel to satellite offices including but not limited to Columbia & Hagerstown
